Целта на скулпторът Добромир Иван е да смъкне скулптурата от пиедестала на високото изкуство и да я направи по-близка да публиката. Той иска публиката да стане участник, а не пасивен зрител на изкуството – линия, която той неотменно прокарва в творчеството си през последните години.
Заради това в основата на паметника на Джими Хендрикс е поставил пепелник, на Франк Запа – микрофон, а на барабаниста на Purple, Йън Пейс в основата му има място за забождане на индийски ухаещи пръчки. Това е препратка към най-известния им хит “Smoke on the Water” и своебразна закачка към зрителите.

Sculptor Dobromir Ivan seeks to bring sculpture down from the pedestal of “high art” and make it more accessible to the public. His ambition is to transform the viewer from a passive observer into an active participant—a principle that has consistently shaped his artistic practice over the past several years.
This philosophy is reflected in the interactive elements of his sculptures. At the base of his monument to Jimi Hendrix, he placed an ashtray. Frank Zappa is accompanied by a microphone, while the sculpture of Ian Paice, drummer of Deep Purple, features a holder for incense sticks. It is both a playful reference to the band’s legendary song Smoke on the Water and an invitation for viewers to engage directly with the artwork.
Rock music and its iconic personalities have long been central themes in Dobromir Ivan’s work. In this collection, however, he turns his attention to two legendary figures from the worlds of fashion and music.
